Comic: Crying Is Not Weak

For many people, life is not easy. There are many challenges and unfortunate events. However, crying is often misunderstood as a sign of weakness due to several deeply ingrained social and evolutionary factors. In many cultures, especially regarding traditional masculinity, expressing emotions outwardly is discouraged, for example, the famous saying that boys don’t cry.

In people’s understanding, crying exposes raw, unfiltered feelings, which can make individuals feel vulnerable to judgment or exploitation by others in competitive environments. Crying is often misunderstood as “fragile,” when they actually indicate a wide emotional bandwidth and high sensory intake.

Luckily, modern research is starting to reframe crying not as a failure of emotional control, but as a crucial tool for psychological and physical health.  Emotional tears can be triggered by a wide range of feelings, including sadness, happiness, frustration, and relief. Suppressing your emotions can lead to adverse health and relationship issues.

If you feel like you want to cry, just let out your tears, making crying an essential reset for your mental well-being. After all, you are a human with emotions.
